ECE study scholarships launched to support sector

If you are looking to inspire the next generation through a rich and rewarding career, our limited time study scholarships will support you towards becoming a confident and competent early childhood teacher.

Scholarship opportunities are available for the following programs:

New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) – A one-year entry level program that supports students to develop a strong foundation of theoretical and practical ECE knowledge.

Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) First Year – A three-year degree in which students develop the skills and knowledge needed to practice with confidence in a diverse socio-cultural context.

Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) – A 16-month program for degree graduates of any discipline to gain specialist ECE knowledge. Featuring a strong practical component, students benefit from hands-on learning and working alongside study commitments.

Both the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) and Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) programs are ideal for those looking to become fully registered teachers, with graduates eligible to apply for New Zealand Teacher Registration and Certification with the New Zealand Teaching Council.

Qualified ECE teachers are highly sought-after in New Zealand. As the country continues to navigate ongoing effects of the pandemic, many are looking to a career in early childhood which offers stability and limitless job opportunities.

“As we near our 40th year of supporting and empowering students to achieve their highest potential, what better way to show our ongoing commitment by once again offering substantial teaching scholarships. Whether you are considering first time study or a change in career, our dedicated NZTC team – along with flexible study options and extensive support services – look forward to inspiring, nurturing and guiding you to become the very best,” said NZTC Chief Executive Selena Fox.
