Upcoming He Kupu issue to explore innovation out of challenge

The role of technology and remote learning during globally challenging times will be explored in the upcoming April issue of New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC)’s publication He Kupu.

An online peer-reviewed ECE journal, He Kupu aims to develop an inclusive, critical, collaborative and informed community of early childhood professionals, incorporating the research and views of academics, practitioners and students alike.

Titled ‘Innovation Out Of Challenge’, this particularly timely area of research focuses on key areas including supporting children and whānau wellbeing during lockdown, adapting teaching practices for remote learning, and mentoring and coaching throughout Covid-19 lockdown and isolation situations.

“The issue will look at how student teachers and teachers have adopted innovative teaching practices during instances of Covid-19 lockdown when teaching and learning shifted from traditional face-to-face contact to remote learning. The opportunities and challenges of the shift to remote learning and how the lessons we have learnt might inform future practices to improve children’s outcomes will be discussed,” said Academic Dean Sean Dolan.

Submissions for the April issue are open and due by Tuesday 1 February 2022 at 3pm.
